THE EFFECTS OF 2,2-DIETHYL 1,3-PROPANEDIOL AND 2,3-DIETHYL 1,4-BUTANEDIOL ON THE SUCCINOXIDASE SYSTEM

The effects of DEB and DEP on the succinoxidase system have been studied.

DEB inhibited the entire succinoxidase system by interfering with the rates of oxidation and reduction of cytochrome c but was without effect on succinic dehydrogenase.

DEP had no effect on the cytochrome portion of the succinoxidase system but did inhibit a partially purified preparation of succinic dehydrogenase.
