-DIETHYLAMINOETHYL DIPHENYLPROPYLACETATE
1 Laboratory of Chemical Pharmacology, National Heart Institute, National Institutes of Health, Public Health Service, U. S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Bethesda, Maryland
-Diethylaminoethyl diphenylpropylacetate HCl (SKF 525-A) prolongs the duration of action and inhibits the rate of biotransformation of hexobarbital and pentobarbital in the body. The inhibitor also retards the demethylation of meperidine, aminopyrine and ephedrine.
It is concluded that SKF 525-A prolongs the duration of action of a variety of drugs primarily by inhibiting their rate of metabolic transformation.
