The comparative effects of equimolar doses of levarterenol (l-norepinephrine) and epinephrine have been determined in anesthetized dogs.
Levarterenol was found to be significantly more effective than epinephrine as a pressor agent and in producing vagal bradycardia.
Epinephrine was found to be significantly more effective in producing splenic contraction, intestinal relaxation, and vasoconstriction in the renal and femoral vascular beds.
