THE EFFECT OF THE ETHYLENEDIAMINE COMPONENT OF AMINOPHYLLINE ON THE DURATION OF REVERSAL OF CARDIAC FAILURE

1. The ethylenediamine content of Aminophylline contributes significantly to the duration of action of this drug as tested in the failed dog heart-lung preparation.

2. Ethylenediamine exerts a marked positive inotropic action and differs from theophylline in lacking a corresponding positive chronotropic action as tested in the failed dog heart-lung preparation.
