THE ABILITY OF ERGOTOXINE TO MODIFY THE CONTRACTILE ACTION OF ERGONOVINE ON THE ISOLATED UTERUS

Grace B. Miller 1 and Edwin J. de Beer 1

1 The Wellcome Research Laboratories, Tuckahoe, New York

The presence of ergotoxine affects the action of ergonovine differently in different species.

Ergotoxine inhibits the contractile action of ergonovine on the isolated virgin rabbit uterus but markedly potentiates it on the isolated virgin guinea pig uterus.
